My fiber art journey began after I was diagnosed with Raynaud’s disease, a condition that causes the blood vessels in my hands and feet to constrict, limiting blood flow and making me more susceptible to frostbite. This made spending long hours outdoors during the winter months a challenge, and I found myself seeking ways to stay productive and engaged indoors. One particularly cold day, I remembered something my mother had given me—a set of knitting looms. When I was about 12 years old, I had used a small loom to make a few simple projects, and I had also learned some basic crochet stitches. That was the extent of my experience with fiber art, but I was intrigued to revisit it.
I did some research and soon began creating winter hats for myself and my family, using the looms. As I crafted more and more, I discovered how much I truly enjoyed the process—the rhythmic motion of weaving, the satisfaction of watching a project come to life, and the cozy warmth of the finished pieces. Before long, my family encouraged me to turn my newfound passion into a business, and that’s how It’s Kendra Paige was born.
Since then, I’ve expanded both my skills and my creations. I create mostly crocheted stuffed animals during the warmer months, and hats, scarves, and mittens when the weather turns colder. I’ve incorporated high-quality wool from my own fiber animals into many of my pieces. What began as a way to stay warm and pass the time has blossomed into a fulfilling creative endeavor, and I’m so grateful for the journey.
